How we met
Charlotte and Kris met in a very modern way: on Hinge, or “the internet” as Kris likes to tease. True to form for a New York romance, Charlotte arrived 30 minutes late to their first date, courtesy of a classic MTA meltdown—and her own flexible relationship with time. It wasn’t the best start, especially in September 2020, when strict protocols meant they were promptly booted from their table shortly after their food arrived. Fortunately, Kris, the more punctual of the two, looked past the tardiness and the time limits, kicking off a five-year relationship.
Since their first date, Charlotte and Kris have traveled to Paris, Amsterdam, the South of France, Antigua, Vermont, Sea Island, Lake Champlain and Martha’s Vineyard with family and friends. Charlotte and Kris have built a home together on the Upper East Side where they enjoy weekends full of trying new restaurants, taking long walks in Central Park and “co-cooking"—a process in which Charlotte prepares the entire meal and Kris is responsible for pressing “start” on the rice cooker, arguably the most technically complex part of it all.
Charlotte and Kris have many common interests. As many know, Kris is a passionate and avid runner. He’s completed several marathons and ultramarathons over the years. Charlotte, on the other hand, prefers to run late for dates, run errands, and run out for pastries at the farmers market. It is clearly a strong match! To make matters worse, Kris has the wildly optimistic dream that they will one day run a marathon together.
Charlotte fell in love with Kris because of all the little things. Matcha deliveries at work or midtown coffee dates always help brighten the mood. Kris is also always prepared, especially when it comes to having dessert on hand for Charlotte. Beyond being a fierce and loyal friend to his St. David’s-plus circle, he is smart yet humble, funny, kind, and has always felt like home.
Kris fell in love with Charlotte because she’s family-oriented, thoughtful, witty, incredibly determined and loyal. If you want a good laugh, ask Kris about the “sassy tax”!
